Route 16 (US-16) runs east to west from Rapid City to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. South Dakota Highway 44 (SD-44) starts in the Black Hills National Forest, running through Rapid City to the south of Sioux Falls, linking Downtown to Rapid City Regional Airport.
It passes through the southern half of South Dakota, straight by Rapid City.
